PEMBI WILDLIFE CONSERVANCY
Be part of the world’s largest privately held wildlife conservancy, taking the biggest step in a 100 years towards conserving wild Africa.
THE STORY OF PEMBI CONSERVANCY
The story of Pembi is one heard throughout Africa. This natural paradise boasts various different eco-systems capable of sustaining large wildlife communities. As with many of the wild areas in Africa, wildlife is still found in abundance due to the area’s history as a hunting concession. Anti-poaching teams patrolled the area for many years due to the commercial value placed on animals by the previous owners of the area.
As with many parts of Africa, this served only to delay the inevitable but also offered the opportunity to acquire the area for the purposes of preserving and allowing nature to flourish without human intervention.
SHAPING PEMBI CONSERVANCY
Shaping close to 325,000 hectares of the “Greater Pembi” into a fully fenced, self-sustaining reserve, and systematically resettling most of the wild species originally found there is an ongoing, lifelong labour of love. The greater Pembi Wildlife Conservancy is the world’s largest nature reserve and through the ongoing efforts of the custodians who have embraced this dream, the different biomes found here combine to form one of the most unique places in the world.
Today Pembi is teeming with wildlife, showcasing a multitude of different animal, reptile and bird species. The conservancy is also home to some of the most unique and rare flora on the continent, including highly prized Sandalwood forests, offering a rare glimpse into an Africa which for the most part have passed.
BECOME PART OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT
PRIVATE CONSERVATION EFFORT IN THE LAST
Pembi Wildlife Conservancy is the world’s largest fully fenced natural conservancy and is situated in the Angónian highlands of Mozambique. As the largest conservancy of its kind in the world, it is anticipated that Pembi will be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
generational heritage investment for the families who take up this call.
THE PEMBI CONCEPT
In line with guidelines established by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) the Pembi team have highlighted the following pillars as important to the sustainability of the initiative:
- To value and conserve the biodiversity of the different biomes and eco-systems that form part of the greater Pembi Conservancy.
- To govern the use of nature’s resources and to ensure that there is an equitable contribution to neighbouring inhabitants; teaching and showing the benefits of nature conservation.
- To craft a sustainable legacy for future generations along a custodian concept, deploying private capital towards conservation, education and socio-economic upliftment.
Threats to biodiversity such as habitat loss, climate change, pollution, unsustainable use of resources, and invasive alien species have intensified in national parks throughout Africa. Pembi provides the largest fully fenced open roaming area in Africa under private ownership.
EQUITABLE RESOURCE SHARING
Involving surrounding communities in large agricultural projects on adjacent land, creating a multitude of employment opportunities and making sure that there is equitable contribution of value will influence and positively change the interaction between man and nature forever.
UNIQUE INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY
The unique nature and structure of this investment provides investors with the opportunity to obtain unequalled growth on their investment whilst taking responsibility for an area close to the size of Switzerland. As one of just 43 custodians this is one of the most unique and rarest investment in the preservation of the natural resources found on the African continent.
FUTURE LASTING LAND
Complete ownership ensures longevity to the most ambitious of dreams. As the largest free roaming, fully fenced and privately owned conservation area in the world full ownership by 43 custodians is almost unimaginable. Future phases will see this project expand even more with current negotiations focused on increasing the reach of this project. With growing populations, and ever expanding agriculture projects worldwide, this project will be close to impossible to replicate.
The Pembi Conservation project offers investors the opportunity to leave a lasting and sustainable part of a slowly disappearing wild Africa to future generations. How future generations measure us will in no small part be determined by this and similar efforts elsewhere. With a fast-changing global landscape, opportunities such as this will become unobtainable in the foreseeable future.
CUSTODIANS OF THE LAND
Pembi is not an attempt to privatise an area which is meant to be accessible to everyone. It has at its heart the custodian principle which gives high affluence investors an opportunity to invest in the future of humanity and nature.
This initiative will deploy private capital through targeted investment and provide numerous opportunities for the wider public to have access to wildlife, educational and environmental programmes they would never have had otherwise. High security breeding areas of more than 5,000 hectares will allow access to some of the scarcest game found on the continent. With the Pembi Pumbze reserve in the south, more than 30,000 hectares will be utilised as a high-intensity management area which will allow easy free movement of vehicles and people in a controlled enviroment.
